Your privacy is important to the Barrenjoey Psychology practice. This privacy statement provides information about the confidentiality of your treatment with our Psychologists and how we collect and use personal information about you.
Your privacy
Our psychologists will collect and record information about you during consultations to help the therapy process. This information is either
securely stored electronically or in a file, and is always password protected or locked away.
Information relating to electronic transactions entered into via this website will be protected by encryption technology.
In our first consultation we will explain our confidentiality policies and we may ask for your permission to write to or contact other health
professionals involved in your care, such as your GP. If you have been referred by a GP it is standard practice to write to that person after your 6th and 10th session.
With your permission, we may use your contact details to send reminders of appointments or provide you with resources that are relevant to your treatment.
Who sees this information?
Information that has been recorded about you is strictly confidential within Barrenjoey Psychology. Sometimes we may seek clinical supervision from other psychologists in order to provide you with the best care possible. Various cases and forms of treatment may also be discussed for the purpose of ongoing training, but all identifying information, such as your name, will be kept strictly confidential to ensure your privacy.
Barrenjoey Psychology may disclose your personal information to the extent that it is required to do so by law if it is subpoenaed by a court. Our Psychologists are required by law to act upon any issues regarding your safety or the safety of others, particularly when children are involved. Your Psychologist will answer your questions about these two exceptions to your privacy if you have any concerns prior to your initial appointment with them.

Barrenjoey Psychology may update this privacy policy by posting a new version on this website. You should check this page occasionally to ensure you are familiar with any changes.
